Of Man’s Role

The more you learn of the Isle of Azreth, the more you learn about its many people and their place in this elaborate society. There are knights, scholars, traveling salesmen, and even captains of Airships! If that wasn't neat enough, you could also become a fabled Sage of the Arcane Arts, a Bandit that stole from the Rich to give to the poor, an actor of a caravan troupe, or even a vendor for flowers picked fresh from the forests to sell at Market every day.

You could climb your way to the top of politics and strive for the best Scribe in the land, even running the Land's Museum Arcanium with its library that seems to stretch on and on, or instead head to less musky arenas and try your hand at courtly prowess and win young King's heart.

If that wasn’t enough, you could try your hand at an explorer of the lands, a humble monk, a faithful innkeeper or a sturdy and stubborn farmer of the lands that float. Perhaps there is an entirely new job that needs to be done, if you are so inclined. There are many places a person could go to make a name for themselves, all you have to do is try.

In general, there are five different paths a person could take once they finish filing all the papers and getting themselves established as citizens of this floating Island; Tradesman, Merchant, Horseman, Arcane, and Political. Below are descriptions of each path. No one path is superior to another. Some are more role-play intensive and require more participation than other, some may require you to seek out certain people and ask for Role-plays, and even some may ask for a few more journal entries than one would normally make.

Eventually your original character will have a choice and be able to pick one of these paths to follow. You are allowed to change your original character’s path if it is clear that it is not cut out for them. However, we will not allow a change on a whim of fancy. Feel free to seek out those that are experienced in the path that your Character seeks and talk to them; see if they feel that that path is the correct one. After all, when in doubt, ask. We’ll happily answer your questions. <3

PostSubject: Path of the Tradesmen   Sat Nov 12, 2011 5:48 am

Path of the Tradesman

Never traveling far from their home, tradesmen are the backbone of the community with their skills to create such items as farming equipment, tailoring clothing, beautiful glassware, gates, fences and what not. With the ability to create also comes the fantastic knowledge of how to take something apart and repair such as thatching on a roof or replacing doors and windows.

These are hardy folk and aren’t often one to be bogged down by formalities. Their clothing is far more plain and practical, even amongst the more cultured circles. Normal working families are home to numerous trades men and more often than not a particular line of work runs in the family. That being said, they are highly superstitious and religious and tend to drink more than the other Paths.

PostSubject: Path of the Merchant   Sat Nov 12, 2011 5:50 am

Path of the Merchant

Men of the world, the people that chose the Path of the Merchant tend to be very fiscally minded and are always looking for a good deal. Be it in art, cloth, foodstuffs and other valuable items, they are the folks that travel, sell, and buy for the good of the public.

Highly aware of the gossip surrounding their little shop, they keep their ears open for any information that could gain them favor in any way -- be it monetary or status. More often than not, Merchants of all types have some ritual superstitions that seem to go against their tolerable and unbiased outlook on life, and the many religions in the world. This doesn’t mean that some aren’t highly religious, they just prefer to deal with money rather than priests and gods. And they are always looking for profit of some kind .

Innkeepers tend to be apart of this path, as they sell warm rooms, good food, drink, and a nice place to relax after a hard day of working. That doesn’t mean that innkeepers are solely of this path, as many tend to dabble in other things when their day’s are slower than others. More often than not, they are accomplished brewmasters on the side.

Path of the Horseman

This class is where you would find Hunters, ranchers, farmers, even horse breeders. Some travelers are in this class as well, depending on what they can do. This class is highly regarded on the floating isle due to the fact that the horses are one of the most sacred animals.* Horsemen work in various high activity jobs that involve working with their equine partners for mutual benifit. They can partake in breeding, riding, or other various activities with their beloved Azrein and Horses alike.

PostSubject: Path of the Arcane   Sat Nov 12, 2011 5:51 am

Path of the Arcane

So you want to be a member of the Arcanus?

The power, prestige, and status of an Alchemist and Magus sound appealing? The infinite power of the world at your beck and call, the rush of watching all in your path vanish with just a wave of your hand, the knowledge that others will seek council.... It is a great responsibility.

Still interested? Here are some facts to chew over before you make your final path decision:

Every moment is a struggle to maintain sanity.
Potions gone wrong result in minor burns to a very uncomfortable internal combusting
One wrong spell cast could be your last
And the always fun witch hunt could occure if tact isn’t taken in smaller towns.

If you’re still interested, please fill out the application and one of our operatives will get back to you within a month.

PostSubject: Path of the Politician   Sat Nov 12, 2011 5:51 am

Path of the Politician

A masqueraded charade of words, actions and fashion; the path of the Politician is filled with many a boring night of paperwork and banquets that could make a beggar cry with avarice. Of the higher status, this path is for the pure purpose of gaining more status and power while humiliating others with overtly kind gestures and words.

Aside from the courtly politics that is a world in of itself, those that aren’t too into the status focus mainly on maintaining order, filling forms out, and sending out orders for items to keep their Fiefs well maintained and the residents content.

Regardless, those that chose this path are quite aware of polite manners and tend to have excellent table manners. Those of the cloth, priests and what not, tend to walk this path.
